The Laughing Basement

This one was inspired by the George Lucas’s masterpiece sci-fi movie THX 1138 which depicts a futuristic underground dystopia where humans are both overworked and sedated. In one of the sequences, the main character (Robert Duval) is taken to a type of insane asylum where political prisoners, the dysfunctional and mutants are all thrown in together. It’s a very disturbing scene and when I first saw this scene as a teen, I was horrified but at the same time intrigued. So, I decided to created my own spin off of this particular sequence in a series of short cartoon stories. 15 years later my friend and writer Kenneth Mcleod came up with somewhat of a plot to jump start the old cartoons again. You may find this story enigmatic and the language, ahem.... course, so I ask that you not to read too much into it.

Enjoy! R.M.
