Time Machine Novel
What in the world would a time machine look like? H.G. Wells envisioned something like a bicycle as he mentions in his story sitting in a saddle. How uncomfortable that seems when you could have a nice heavily cushioned lounge chair like in George Pal’s 1960 movie adaptation. I pictured the machine somewhat more utilitarian that was voltaic battery powered and built with 19th century materials such as cast iron and brass. As for its appearance, we can only use our imagination because everyone know that time travel at least into the past is impossible. According to the law of Relativity, we can in theory travel to the future bypassing of large periods Earthly time, but that means building a spaceship that travels up to 90% the speed of light. That kind of technology, figuratively speaking, is light years away. I’m sure H.G. Wells was well aware of this and in spite of it, took the writers license to create this marvelous vision of a future in the year 802,701 AD.
